A group of Christians went to share the word of God on a Sunday morning after church at a bar. There, they met a lady, a prostitute that said "abi born again o, me sef dey go church na". They were perplexed and tried to make her understand that after believing in Him, she ought to follow the Lord Jesus and please Him, stressing the point that Jesus made in John 8:31 "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, If you continue in my word, then are you truly my disciples" and that James 2:19 says "You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble". But unfortunately she turned deaf hears. Now the question to you reading this is - are you truly His disciple? Are you true? Are you following His word?
When the only begotten Son of God said, "Take heed and beware of covetousness (having a strong desire for the things that other people have), for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth"(Luke 12:15) and then went on to say "Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth" (Luke 12: 33), what do you do? Is it not that you worry about those nice things others have that you don't? Is it not that you stack up wealth in your quest to be one of the world's richest, bragging about how many cars and houses you have? Is it not that you are in a hot pursuit of money, trying to get rich at all cost? Don’t you know that He made it clear that “whosoever he be of you that forsake not all that he has, he cannot be my disciple?”(Luke 14:33)
When the Lord Jesus said "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you" (Matt 5:44), what do you do? Is it not that you rain curses on them and pray for their death? The only warfare Christians are allowed to engage in, is the spiritual warfare, but is it not that you've been wishing evil to befall some distant relative of yours who supposedly doesn't want you to succeed?
When the Saviour of mankind said "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, that ye resist not evil; but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also" (Matt 5:38-40), Is it not that you go against His word, applying the wisdom of this world so that others won't take you for a ride?
When the Master said "This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:12-13), what are you doing? When last did you deny yourself for the good of others? Haven't you read, "hereby percieve we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?" (1 John 3:16-17).
When Peter, one of the disciples asked, "Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?", Jesus replied, "I say not unto thee, Until seven times; but until seventy times seven" (Matt 18:21-22). Are you living by this word? Is it not that you harbour malice, resentment and unforgiveness towards those that hurt you?
When the disciples began to wonder among themselves who should be the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven, Jesus taught them about humility and said "Verily I say unto you, except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven" (Matt 18:3-4). Are you truly humble? Is it not that you are proud and boastful because of your position or what you have?
When Jesus in whom was found no sin, made it clear that "Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matt 5:28), and then said "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies" (Matt 15:19), what is going on in your own heart? Didn't He say that "Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God?" (Matt 5:8). Friend, don't you know that only the pure in heart will make heaven and see the Most High?
Indeed many Christians who go to church, prophesy, cast out devils and do miracles in His name will be surprised on that day of Judgement when He will say to them "I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity" (Matt 7:23). The True Disciples of Christ Jesus are those who continue in His word. Once again the question is, are you true?
"Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of my Father who is in heaven" (Matt 7:21).
To start a relationship with Him, please say this prayer: Dear Jesus Christ, I believe that you are the Son of God and that you died for me, please forgive all my sins, cleanse me with your precious blood and live in me from now on. I surrender my life to you and accept you as my Personal Lord and Saviour, please help me to follow you as you lead me to the Kingdom of Heaven. Thank You for answering my prayer, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
