7 Benefits of Trusting God

The bible is replete with verses urging us to trust in God and emphasizing the need for us to place our confidence in Him. A survey of some of these portions of scripture clearly lays out 7 compelling benefits of trusting God.

1. Happiness & Joy

Proverbs 16: 20

Those who trust the Lord will be joyful (NLT)
Trust in the Lord and you will be happy (GNT)
And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he (NKJV)

2. Blessing

Jeremiah 17:7

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.(NKJV)

“Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord And whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord. (AMP)

In contrast

Jeremiah 17:5

Thus says the Lord, “Cursed is the man who trusts in and relies on mankind, Making [weak, faulty human] flesh his strength, And whose mind and heart turn away from the Lord. (AMP)

Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord. (NKJV)

Proverbs 28:25

He who trusts in the Lord will be prospered. (NKJV)
He who trusts in the Lord will be blessed and prosper. (AMP)

Psalm 34:8

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! (NKJV)

Psalm 84:12

O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You! (NKJV)

3. Safety & Protection

Proverbs 29:25

The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe. (NKJV)

2 Samuel 22:3

The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence. (NKJV)

Psalm 18:30

As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. (NKJV)

4. Perfect & Constant Peace

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.(NKJV)

Jeremiah 17:8

He who trusts in the Lord will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought (NKJV)

Isaiah 28:16

So the Lord God says, “See, I lay in Jerusalem a Stone of great worth to build upon, a tested Stone. Anyone who puts his trust in Him will not be afraid of what will happen. (NLV)

So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who relies on it will never be stricken with panic. (NIV)

5. Surrounded with Mercy & Lovingkindness

Psalm 32:10

He who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.(NKJV)

He who trusts in and relies on the Lord shall be surrounded with compassion and lovingkindness. (AMP)

6. Shall Not be Moved

Psalm 125:1

Those who trust in the Lord Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever. (NKJV)

Those who trust in the Lord are steady as Mount Zion, unmoved by any circumstance. (TLB)

7. No Shame/Disgrace

1 Peter 2:6

For in Scripture it says: “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” (NIV)

As the Scriptures say, “I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor, and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” (NLT)

For thus it stands in Scripture: Behold, I am laying in Zion a chosen (honored), precious chief Cornerstone, and he who believes in Him [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] shall never be disappointed or put to shame. (AMPC)

"Get Up And Pray!"

Written by Leonard Ravenhill

One day I was at a conference with Dr. V. Raymond Edman of Wheaton College, one of the greatest Christian educators in this country. He told us of an experience he had while he was in Ecuador as a missionary. He hadn't been there long before he was sick and dying. He was so near death that they had already dug his grave. He had great beads of sweat on his brow and there was a death rattle in his throat. But suddenly he sat straight up in bed and said to his wife, "Bring me my clothes!" Nobody knew what had happened.

Many years later he was retelling the story in Boston. Afterward, a little old lady with a small, dog-eared, beaten-up book, approached him and asked, "What day did you say you were dying? What time was it in Ecuador? What time would it be in Boston?" When he answered her, her wrinkled face lit up. Pointing to her book, she said. "There it is, you see? At 2 a.m. God said to get up and pray - the devil's trying to kill Raymond Edman in Ecuador." And she'd gotten up and prayed.

Duncan Campbell told the story of hearing a farmer in his field who was praying. He was praying about Greece. Afterward, he asked him why he was praying. The man said, "I don't know. I had a burden in the spirit and God said, 'You pray; there's someone in Greece that is in a bad situation.' I prayed until I got a release." Two or three years later the farmer was in a meeting listening to a missionary. The man described a time when he was working in Greece. He had been in serious trouble. The time? Two or three years ago. The men compared notes and discovered that it was the very same day that God had burdened a farmer, on a little island off the coast of Scotland, to pray for a man in Greece whose name he didn't even know.

It may seem the Lord gives you strange things. I don't care. If the Lord tells you something, carry on with what the Lord tells you.
